Why I Made Free Camera Shake Presets for Premiere Pro
Add instant energy and motion to your videos with free camera shake presets for Premiere Pro. Learn how camera shakes work, when to use them, and how to install the KH Camera Shakes pack in minutes.
Camera shake is one of the fastest ways to add energy to an edit — but dialing it in by hand every time kills your momentum. That’s why I built the KH Camera Shakes pack: a set of free Premiere Pro presets you can drag onto any clip and tweak in seconds.
When to use camera shake
Shake works best when it supports the story, not when it’s decoration. I reach for it on:
- Impact moments — hits, cuts on the beat, reveal shots
- Action sequences — sports, stunts, anything with physical energy
- Transitions — paired with speed ramps or zoom moves for extra punch
The key is restraint. A little shake goes a long way; too much makes footage feel cheap instead of cinematic.
What’s in the pack
The presets cover a range of intensities — from subtle handheld drift to aggressive impact shakes. Each preset is built on Transform effects so you can adjust scale, position, and timing without digging through nested timelines.
How to install
- Download the pack from my site or YouTube link
- In Premiere Pro, open the Effects panel and find Presets
- Right-click → Import Presets and select the
.prfpsetfile - Drag any preset onto your clip and adjust duration to match your cut
If you’re new to presets, start with the lighter shakes and layer intensity only where the edit needs it.
